Protecting the individual's right to personal privacy

For employees that must comply with increased corporate security needs, the plusID device provides a simple, non-invasive way to benefit from the heightened security of biometrics without compromising personal privacy.

During the device issuance process, called enrollment, a template of the user's fingerprint is encoded and securely stored in their personal device. The fingerprint is never transmitted or released from the device.

Fingerprint templates are securely stored and matched on the user’s own device – never exposing biometric data to external servers, readers or databases. The device's on-board fingerprint sensor and biometric processing eliminates the need for a biometric database. This protects users from the very real and serious threat of identity theft. If a biometric database was hacked and biometric data stolen, unlike a password or credit card number, your fingerprint can never be reissued.

The device's secure, tamper resistant design (FIPS 140-2 Level 3) and secure processor, ensure that even if the device were electronically or physically probed, no biometric data could be retrieved.
